We just completed the first stage of project implementation: within one month we collected and analyzed the facts of pollution of the Baltic Sea. We met with ecologists and oceonology specialists and discussed the most essential problems of pollution. I started this project by collecting data about environmental NGOs working on the Baltic Sea issues. I asked for help from Club "Zvejone", Klaipeda University Department of Ecology, Institute of Ecology in Vilnius and Sea Monitoring Center in Klaideda.
I received special help from the Chief Oceonologist of the Sea Monitoring Center - Mr. Dubra - who provided me with information that helped me to form an opinion and to better understand the general approach to the environmental situation of the Baltic Sea. This will help me to decide what forms of art we should use in making our video.
Currently we are starting another stage of implementation: the stage of filming and computer graphics that will last for about one month. The third stage is final realization and integration (also about one month). After this stage is completed, I will submit a final report for finished work.
We are planning to complete this project by December 31, 1999.
