Comment: Desertification at the edges of the En Ge Bei Desert, located in China's Northwest, is causing sandstorms and altering the weather of China's interior.

Note: This proposal is part of a pilot cooperation between ECOLOGIA and our partner in China. This proposal will be further evolving cooperatively.

The En Ge Bei Desert is located in the Northwest of China, with adverse circumstances, especially in winter. Sandstorms greatly affect the weather and environment of the interior. This is causing increased desertification. Since 1993, some Non-governmental groups and foreign friends have sponsored the afforestation activities which we call. "Green Wall".

This project plans to organize some students and their parents (about 10 or 20 persons) from Beijing to plant trees in summer vacation, in order to change the environment and weather there year after year.

Our budget is: every volunteer pays for freight out and home by train by themselves, for about USD 44. We also need to spend 945 USD for saplings, accommodation, meals and transportation.
