Background Information

Our club "Dziungles" was established in 1994 in order to raise youth awareness of healthy life alternatives through the arts and other progressive communications media. There are 15 club members (artists, broadcast specialists, computer specialists, medical and environmental specialists). The "Dziungles" Club has already organized several public events, including a music festival to benefit the Kaunas Castle, and a technical fair to raise public awareness of progressive communication technologies. We are now actively involved in various social mass media projects, as well as producing educational programs on the Lithuanian national television channel. The main aim of our club is to introduce and promote social and cultural activities to protect the environment and enrich people's lives. Many of our mass media projects are aimed at the involving the public in global cultural, environmental, and health decisions.

Project Goals

  1. To create and to broadcast on the main Lithuanian television channel an environmental video clip in order to increase public interest in environmental problems;
  2. To promote activities aimed at halting global environmental problems (e.g. protection of Baltic Sea, prevention of water pollution);
  3. To encourage public efforts and decisions that benefit the environment;
  4. To involve the government and legal institutions in solving these problems; and,
  5. To develop ideas on how to limit not only the Baltic Sea pollution, but global water and environmental pollution, too.

Project Concept

The role of mass media is vital in organizing environmental activities and implementing useful environmental protection methods. We expect that many residents of Lithuania (ratings indicate that 17% of the population watches the national television channel) will see our video clip. Existing laws allow free broadcast of social video clips, so our video can be shown repeatedly. We believe this will create a new method to approach the Lithuanian population about environmental issues.

Stages of Project Implementation

  1. Preparation of information about actual environmental issues, consultations with other environmental specialists to achieve an understanding of the problems. Copy writing process for video clip (from 1/2 to 1 month).
  2. Active filming process for video clip to achieve best expression of video clip (from 1/2 to 1 month).
  3. Post-production of the complete video clip (from 1 to 1.5 month).
  4. Broadcasting of video clip on Lithuanian national television channel (3x/day, for unlimited duration).

We are planning to continue creating and broadcasting video clips to solve actual environmental problems.
