The Sichuan University Environmental Volunteer Association (EVA) was founded in 1995 and has steadily grown, developing programs for student and community awareness of environmental issues. EVA Founder and Faculty Advisor Lu Hongyan is also the current Director of the Environmental Education Center, and works closely with both organizations. Most recently, they have developed their own website, www.greensos.org. In 2001 EVA was chosen for the "Earth Award" by the China Environmental Journalists Association and Friends of the Earth Hong Kong. Sichuan University's Environmental Education Center communicates with a network of student, faculty and staff at different universities, all concerned about environmental improvement in China and involved in cooperative efforts in their communities. Joining the Virtual Foundation as a Consortium Member will provide the Environmental Education Center with a link to international recognition and support for student and community projects from the interior regions of China.
